We take for granted a lot of things in life.
Take for instance clean toilets.
The one in our house is always clean but when we go outside, we are faced with the fact that it is sometimes difficult to access a clean one.
When we really have to go, we have no choice but to hover or place our feet on the throne.
Michael Jackson even gives us an idea how to survive a dirty toilet.
The photo is very funny but quite true.
Domex Philippines Exposes The Truth
Did you know that 7 million Filipinos do not have access to clean toilets?
The statistic is quite stunning, isn’t it?
If people don’t have access to clean toilets, their health is highly at risk.
They can be exposed to a lot of disease and the most vulnerable are the children.
Department of Health statistics tell us that around 3,420 children under 5 years old die from diarrhea-related deaths, 2,000 of which could have been prevented if they had access to clean water and toilets.
They should be protected from becoming ill because after all, they are our future.
When people are sick, they will not be able to become 100% productive or do anything that they love.
Can you get the picture I am trying to show you?
So How Did Domex Philippines Manage To Make Underprivileged Filipinos Smile?
Domex Philippines, in cooperation with UNICEF, launched the campaign “1 Million Clean Toilets.”
The campaign aims to provide clean toilets to deprived areas in the Philippines.
Do you have an idea how people react when they receive a clean toilet?
They make a fiesta out of it!
Personally, having a hygienic bathroom is a cause for celebration.
The people in the barrio rejoice as if it’s Christmas.
Just look at the smiles in the video and you’ll see what I mean.
“The video aims to make people realize the value of a toilet which most of us, unfortunately, take for granted,” shares Domex Brand Manager Dennis Chua.
How Can We Help The 1 Million Clean Toilets Movement Of Domex Philippines?
It’s as simple as watching the video and making a single click.
I am not kidding.
The unique views of the video will be translated into a single pledge for the campaign.
One pledge is equivalent to 5 pesos and this will be donated by Domex Philippines to UNICEF.
Another way to make a pledge is to visit the Facebook Page of Domex.
Just click the PLEDGE NOW button on their One Million Clean Toilets app and that’s it!
After clicking the button, the app will look like this.
UNICEF will then use the funds to help improve maintenance of clean bathrooms and improve sanitary access in deprived areas of the Philippines.
“By watching the ‘Fiesta’ video and asking our friends to watch it, we are not only raising awareness for toilet appreciation and sanitation, more importantly, we are helping less privileged communities gain access to clean toilet facilities,” said Unilever Foods and Home Care Vice President Benjie Yap.
I have already done my part.
Now it’s your turn.
As I was writing this blog, 1,279,069 people have already made their pledges.
Share this blog or the video link to as many friends as you can.
Let’s help our fellowmen in the construction of new toilets and repair of broken ones.
“This video should serve as a wake-up call for most of us. The little things we take for granted, like having a clean toilet, could mean the world to others and could definitely help save lives,” Chua concludes.
